Cognizant has recently published a report regarding 21 places of the future according to their infrastructure, development, economy, sustainability, and social commitment. The way they did the research is unique and interesting as their answers conveyed that they reached non-physical places too.

The firm identified different so-called futuristic working places depending on certain criteria including quality of education, available private capital, local government. Also, they analyzed additional factors like physical infrastructure, literacy, environment, lifestyle and diversity, culture, talent, cost of living and more. The report comprises 17 geographic and 4 omnisphere locations described as future workspaces.

Wellington from New Zealand qualified the list with its booming tech startups and investments along with green infrastructure. Da Nang from Vietnam got featured with their IT parks creating numerous job opportunities setting business incubators. Shenzhen is now one of the popular destinations of digital nomads being an ancient fish village.Songdo from South Korea and Haidian Qu from China also reached the list with the best educational institutions and western ventures with talents and tech investments.

Lisbon has been under tremendous growth in technology with startup ecosystems, to be the leader in the future of work for Europe.

Nairobi in Kenya and Lagos from Nigeria are the growing African hotspots with their financial technology dominance and startups. They are the emerging economic powerhouse of Africa distilling the cultural and entrepreneurial core, fostering local talent development.

It is neither a surprise nor an imaginary, that some non-physical world managed to get into the list. Remote working is accepted and has been a part of the regular lifestyle of the new normal during the Covid 19 pandemic affected the business world. People are flexible and would gravitate to new places of innovation and technology. Apart from privacy concerns and complications, statistics show that there are over 170 million virtual reality users worldwide. The virtual places in the future list include:
